Students clash at Jaffna university leaving two hospitalized and police Investigations underway. According to the information received, a clash between two groups of students from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Jaffna resulted in four students being injured, with two admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital last night (09).

Hospital Director P. Sathyamoorthy confirmed that the injuries sustained by the hospitalized students are not severe.
The altercation reportedly began as a dispute between 3rd and 4th-year students during a function organized to welcome new students. The situation escalated, leading to physical violence.
Tensions within the Faculty of Arts have been ongoing, with the faculty head resigning two weeks ago, citing student conflicts, drug use, and inappropriate behaviour as reasons for his departure.
The police have launched an investigation following a complaint and statements provided by the injured students to the Jaffna Hospital Police.
