The Chairman of Japan’s Nippon Foundation Mr. Yohei Sasakawa visited to the President’s Secretariat yesterday (07) and met Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
In the welcome meeting, the President has emphasized to Mr. Yohei Sasakawa that the most important task of the Sri Lankan government is to eradicate rural poverty in Sri Lanka. The report also stated that he hopes that the program will lead to the development of education in the country.

Furthermore, he specifically emphasized his foundation’s focus on supporting the educational development of students in Jaffna.
During the meeting, Mr. Sasakawa has assured to the president that his foundation is committed to contributing to the improvement of public health, education, and the welfare of the differently abled community in Sri Lanka.
President Anura Kumara also discussed with Mr. Sasakawa the government’s plans to launch special projects aimed at addressing rural poverty, which is a key priority in Sri Lankan nation’s development agenda.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Anil Jayantha Fernando, Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Senior Additional Secretary to the President, Roshan Gamage, Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Akio Isomata, Chairman of the Sasakawa Health Foundation, Dr. Takahiro Nanri, Executive Director of The Nippon Foundation, Ichiro Kabasawa; and several other representatives.
