The Jaffna District Coordinating Committee meeting was held at the Jaffna District Secretariat under the chairmanship of the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to discuss the ongoing development program and future plans in the Jaffna district on 31st of January.

In this visit President Anura Kumara Dissanayake received a warm welcome at a meeting organized by the NPP supporters and well-wishers at velvettithurai. Mr. Dissanayake said that Tamil speaking youths will be given opportunities in the police department, the development project will be released for the construction of industrial zones in Paranthan, Mankulam and KKS also the Jaffna Presidential Palace will be given to the public.

The separatist terrorism was caused by the arbitrary political activity of the government in the south and the anti-people attitudes of the people’s representatives who stood for it in the north and east. In the end, the civilians had to suffer through a 30-year separatist war.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was pushed politically to end the separatism of the country by People’s Liberation Front (JVP) and Sihala Urumaya. The three-armed forces and the police, including former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, ended the war. Intelligence was also very important in this process along with the support from Indian government.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that land belonging to the people should rightfully remain with them. He further emphasised that the issue of land disputes in the Northern Province is under review and that steps are being taken to expedite the process of returning land to its rightful owners.
