International Red Cross Organization’s support to the new government program

A meeting between Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Mrs. Severine Chappaz, the new head of the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) delegation was held at the Presidential Office today (25).

The attention was focused here to provide support from the International Red Cross Organization to the program led by the new government in Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Organization has expressed an agreement to provide the necessary technical support and to strengthen the process related to the office of the disappeared.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said here that money has been allocated from the budget this year for programs implemented on searching for missing persons.

The president also mentioned that the government has planned to celebrate “Sri Lankan Day” to strengthen the journey ahead together, as a one Sri Lankan nation without any discrimination and religion.

The President who appreciated the humanitarian operations done by the International Red Cross Organization in Sri Lanka since 1989 expressed his thanks for it.

President Senior Additional Secretary Mr. Roshan Gamage and Communications Manager of International Red Cross Committee Ruvanti Jayasundara also joined the event.

International Red Cross Association cooperates with new government projects

Meeting between President Anura Kumara Disanayaka and new Prime Minister Mrs. Severine Chappaz (Ms.Severine Chappaz) of International Red Cross Association (ICRC) delegation was held today (25) at Presidential Office.

During this focus was on providing support of the International Red Cross Association to projects implemented by the new government of Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the Sri Lankan Red Cross Association agreed to provide necessary technical assistance and skill improvement to strengthen the office of missing persons.

President Anurakumara Disanayaka just informed that funds have been allocated in this year’s budget for projects implemented to search for the missing.

The President also said that the government has planned to celebrate “Sri Lankan Day” to further strengthen the journey forward by uniting as one Sri Lankan nation, without ethnicity and religion.

The President expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian actions being done by the International Red Cross Association in Sri Lanka since 1989.

The meeting was attended by President’s High Secretary Roshan Kamage and Communication Campaigner of International Red Cross Association Mrs. Ruvanthi Jayasundara.

ICRC Pledges Support for New Government Initiatives

President Anura Kumara Disanayake met with Ms. Severine Chappaz, the newly appointed Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), today (25) at the Presidential Secretariat.

Discussions focused on the ICRC’s support for the new government’s policy framework. As part of this collaboration, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society has agreed to provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to strengthen the Office on Missing Persons (OMP).

President Disanayake highlighted that the budget 2025 has allocated funds for on-going programs related to searching for missing persons.

Additionally, the President announced plans to celebrate “Sri Lankan Day” as a national initiative aimed at fostering unity and strengthening the country’s collective identity, transcending ethnic and religious differences.

The President expressed his gratitude to the ICRC for its humanitarian operations in Sri Lanka since 1989 and acknowledged its continued commitment to the country.

The meeting was also attended by Roshan Gamage, Senior Additional Secretary to the President, and Ruwanthi Jayasundara, Communications Manager of the ICRC.
